What it means to me to abide by the Sabbath....

To say the least, this is something of a stalemate with many. I have had Pastors and lay people alike tell me that the Sabbath is not required due to Christ rising on the Sunday. I beg to differ. There is a verse in the New Testament about the Sabbath, that tells me that those people have no right to question my day of abiding. The verse is below.

COL 2:16  Therefore do not let anyone
judge you by what you eat or drink,
or with regard to a religious festival,
a New Moon celebration or a Sabbath
day.

I do not know, but I feel strongly about the fact that the Sabbath has nothing to do with Christian church services. I feel that abiding by the Sabbath day on the Sabbath is possible at the same time of choosing or not to attend Christian church services. I believe church services are nice and some are quite rewarding, yet I do not feel that they are always what they seem. I do not believe in storing up of wealth and wares on earth, which is supported Biblically, and I feel that those churches surrounding the idea of a business with political lines running through them, are not the churches that God will be looking for. Usually in this type of entity the "real little flock" within it is starving for feeding of the Word.

What the Sabbath means to me....It means that I am not to buy, sell, trade, or work from the time the Sun goes down on Friday evening each week until the sun sets on Saturday each week. I have been questioned on this, but causing others to work on the Sabbath is problematic, as well. We are not to work, leave the house, travel, buy, sell, or trade, and this is only allowed a differentiation to save one's self from a loss of livestock or asset, according to the New Testament, by Jesus himself.

Enjoy the coming Sabbath days. They are meant for a rejuvenation. They are meant for 24 hours of relaxation from production and to rest. Walk closer with the Lord, you who know Him, because when He returns you want to be sure He knows you.
